A Taste of Robot Programming

What is this workshop about?

A fun and beginner friendly robot programming workshop. Participants will learn to program a small mobile robot and collaborate in a group to program a robot team to compete with other groups in a game.

Venue: Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam
Date, Time: 12 June 2025, Thursday, 2-4pm and 13 June 2025, Friday, 2:30-4:30pm (they are duplicate sessions; each participant should only attend one session)
Organized by: Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (ROBOLAB) of the School of Digital Science, UBD

After the workshop, you will (hopefully) be able:

  • To recognize the components in a robot.
  • To identify the devices used to achieve the fundamental functions of a robot.
  • To outline the process of programming a robot.
  • To perform simple robot programming.
  • To gain interest in robotics and explore further on robotics technologies.

This workshop is for complete beginners in robotics programming.

Who can participate?

This workshop is for complete beginners in robotics programming.
Anyone fluent in using computers are welcome.
Prior programming experience is preferred (beginner level is sufficient), but participants without any programming background are also welcome.

Seats are limited on first-come first-serve basis.

What do I need to bring?

Just come with your enthusiasm.
Limited number of robots and laptops will be provided during the workshop. Participants are expected to work in pairs/groups (each sharing a robot and a laptop). You are welcomed to bring your own laptop. Multiple participants can simultaneously program a robot.
